Microsoft’s, Global Community Affairs Division has spent US$ 40m/- to fund 65 projects in Africa over a period of three years.

Addressing a press conference yesterday in Dar es Salaam, Senior Director for Community Affairs Akhtar Badshah said Tanzania is among the countries benefiting from its projects.

Badshah said in Tanzania, the company has been working with the underprivileged groups to implement two projects.

The projects based in Moshi and Arusha serve children living under difficult circumstances.

They offer Information Technology training among other courses.

”Since we have realised that under privileged groups can not afford IT- we decided to work closely with them in order to help them realise their potential,” he said.

He further said that they were impressed with the development of the projects established in the country since they were pilot.

”We pledge continuing support to these projects in Tanzania because they have shown positive results,” he said
The press conference was also attended by a delegation from Microsoft, Global Community Affairs Division, on a 3-day tour.

The delegation would meet with partner organisations and visit project sites.
