The Tanzania Postal Bank (TPB) yesterday conducted a grand draw. Some 30 bank customers won various prizes.

The winner scooped 1m/- whereas each of the first and second runners up received a refrigerator and television set, then air condition, DVD player and a mobile phone respectively.

Speaking during the event, the Acting Chief Executive Officer of TPB, Bernadeth Gogadi, said the aim of the promotion was to encourage customers to build a culture of depositing their money for future use.

She said that this would enhance customers’ individual income.

”We had targeted to attract deposits amounting to 3bn/- from our customers. However, up to this day, we received more than the projected amount,” said Gogadi.

She said that during the launch of the promotion in July this year, the bank’s deposits stood at 57.2 bn/-, but had now risen to 60.8 bn/-, which is equivalent to a 6.3 per cent increase.

She further said that statistics indicated that during the promotion period, the bank had attracted 4,393 new customers.

Since it was officially launched in July this year, TPB has conducted monthly minor draws, during which hundreds of people won various prizes, including cash money.
