New building for High Court in Shinyanga in offing

The government plans to construct a new building to house the High Court in Shinyanga Region during 2006/07 financial year.
Deputy Minister for Justice and Constitutional affairs Mathias Chikawe made the revelation yesterday in Parliament when he was responding to a question by Rosemary Kirigini (Special seats, CCM).
Kirigini had wanted to know whether the government was planning to build High Court offices in Mara Region as presently the services are only offered in Mwanza.
Chikawe said there were many murder cases reported in Shinyanga, which needed the services of the high court.
Chikawe said to reduce delays and avoid inconveniences to the residents of Mara, currently High Court in Mwanza zone has two centres, one in Musoma and another in Tarime.
The High Court of Tanzania intends to start another centre in Serengeti District.
At the same time he revealed that plans were underway to recruit 20 new judges for the High Court.
