The government is set to build 65 police posts at district level through a ten-year Police Force programme being implemented between 2003 and 2013.
The deputy minister for Public Safety and Security, Mohamed Abood Mohamed, said this yesterday when he was responding to questions asked by MP Said Nkumba (Sikonge, CCM).
He said that some of the stations were already built while others were still under construction.
Abood said that the ministry was preparing a master plan which would determine the required number of police posts in the country.
He said that the new districts, which have no police posts, would continue to be served by the mother districts.
The ministry will continue to improve services in the mother districts by adding more police officers and working tools, he said.
The minister said that due to budgetary constraints, the government would not build police posts in the villages of Kimara, Kinuni, Pangawe and Kwerekwe which will continue to be served by Mwanakwerekwe and Fuoni posts.
Abood also responding to a question asked by Haji Juma Sewereji of Mwanakwerekwe.
