The Vice President Dr. Ali Mohamed Shein has said that members of the public should not fear those who oppose the Union because it has many benefits for the development of Zanzibar and the Mainland.

Addressing residents of Kibeni village in Northern Unguja Region, Dr Shein said the Union government in collaboration with the revolutionary government of Zanzibar have continued to work together to improve the national economy.

”Despite the development plans undertaken by revolutionary government there are other plans which are carried out in collaboration with the Union government,” he said

Dr. Shein said that CCM election manifesto has taken into consideration both governments in establishing economic projects which would help strengthen the country’s economy as whole.

He said that when donor countries dish out loans to Tanzania the revolutionary government of Zanzibar also benefits from the loans for developing various projects.

”Apart from economic benefits we are also proud of our nationality,” he said

Dr. Shein assured the citizens who attended the meeting that the government would continue to strengthen the Union for posterity.

The Vice President also assured Kiyongwe Villegers in Northern Unguja that the revolutionary government would send health experts to provide medical services soon after of a health centre which is being built in the villager.

He said that their decision to put up a grade two health centre was in line with the government initiative to ensure medical service for all people irrespective of their political affiliation.

”The second health centre that you have decided to build will provide different healths services especially to mothers and children,” he said.

”The government would provide doctors and nurses,” he explained.

The villagers told the vice president that the idea to build the health centre came about because they were walking for long distances in search of health services.

They said that the current cholera outbreak has affected many people forcing them to speed up the construction of the health centre.

The construction of the health centre started on last year August and it is expected to cost 42m/-.
