Vodacom Foundation donates 5m/- for orphans

Vodacom Tanzania, through the Vodacom Foundation donated a cheque for 5 m/- to Side by Side Tanzania, at the weekend.
The beneficiary is a non profit educational foundation dedicated to caring for orphans and children living under difficult conditions.
Head of Vodacom Corporate Social Responsibility Rachel Phares handed over the cheque to the Side by Side Tanzania project manager Andrea Pannocchia at the Kurasini National Childrens Home in Dar es Salaam.
The money will help in the completion of a multi-functional hall, which will also be used as an income generating project for the Kurasini National Children Centre.
In striving to maintain our status as Tanzanias leading cellular network, we shall continue to be responsive to the needs of the people in Tanzania, said Phares .
Vodacom Tanzania launched Vodacom Foundation in July 2006, a socially responsible organisation dedicated to support the people of Tanzania in improving their living standards.
Among other things, the Foundation believes in supporting projects that have proven their performance in bringing about changes and developments in the society.
Vodacom foundation is committed to enriching lives of those living in difficult situations, she said.
She added that the Vodacom Foundation believes in supporting projects that have proved their performance, adding that Side by side Tanzania has shown commitment in supporting children living in difficult situations.
