Youth members of the United Nations Association of Tanzania will meet in Dar es Salaam for a three-day training workshop starting today on preparations of draft resolutions, plot strategy and resolving conflicts.

The conference, dubbed the National Model United Nations, is a follow up to the Eastern Africa Regional Model United Nations Conference, now bringing together youths from Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda who previously hosted the event in Kenya in 2005.

During a press conference held over the weekend, EARMUN country coordinator Lawrence Ezekiel said issues to be tabled included plotting a course for effective implementation of UN’s rules and integration of regional cooperation.

Ezekiel said that aim was to inform Tanzanian youths of the EARMUN achievements and implement the action plans to be carried out in their local communities.

”We also hope to increase Tanzanian youths’ capacity to contribute toward MDGs realization in their communities through caucus discussion and workshops which will be conducted at the conference,” he said

He said at the end of the conference, the youths would come up with ways to support the already existing initiatives of implementing the 2015 millennium development goals.
