President Jakaya Kikwete arrives today from his official visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The President has also visited China and South Korea.
While in UAE, President Kikwete met various leaders of the UAE.
The President held discussions with the Head of Alkhaimah Cape, Sheik Saud Al Quasimi, who promised that some companies from his area would invest in Tanzania.
One of the companies is RAC (RAC Group), which has started investment discussions on the search for oil and gas in Mtwara Region.
Sheikh Quasimi told President Kikwete that apart from investing in the search for oil and gas, the company also intends to invest in fertilizer and plastic industries and in port development.
My government is also looking forward to investing in port matters, he said.
President Jakaya Kikwete told his host that he was inviting investors wholeheartedly to Tanzania.
He said that Mtwara port, apart from being a gateway to the southern parts of Tanzania, was also an important port, and would become even so once the production of gas and iron commences.
It is also an important trade seaport in relation to trade with parts of Mozambique, Kikwete said.
President Kikwete also met the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and leader of Dubai, Sheik Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
They exchanged ideas on different areas of cooperation.
President Kikwete also shared views with Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who is the principal leader of UAE and head of Abu Dhabi.
He also met investors from Kuwait, including the Chief Executive Officer of Emirates Airline, who have shown interest in investing in different areas in Tanzania.
