Iramba District Council intends to spend over 700m/- for implementation a clean and safe water project this year.

Acting director of Iramba District Council Leonidas Rweyemamu told PST here yesterday that the project would supply clean water to residents of New and Old Kiomboi neighbourhoods.

He said the project would involve the digging of six boreholes and construction of a water tank with a 300,000 litre capacity plus water infrastructure.

Rweyemamu, however, stressed that the benefitiaries would be charged 5 per cent per litre.

`The wananchi, in collaboration with the council, must contribute 10 per cent to the project so as to make it sustainable,`he said.

Rweyemamu said all customers would be required to settle their bills so as to speed up the implementation of the project.
