The Vice President, Dr Mohamed Ali Shein, will officiate at a one-day conference on professional ethics in the legal sector to be held in Dar es Salaam on Friday.
The conference, organised by the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs in collaboration with the German Technical Cooperation (GTZ), aims at raising awareness on the need to uphold ethical behaviour and performance in the legal sector.
A statement issued in Dar es Salaam yesterday said over 130 top-ranking public and private legal professionals from Tanzania, Uganda, Kenya and South Africa will take part in the conference.
Highly reputable representatives from the European Commission, Commonwealth Secretariat, Transparency International, the Untied States, the United Kingdom and the GTZ are expected to exchange notes on their experiences in the field, including on ways to deal with corruption.
Other invitees include members of the Tanzania business community and non-governmental organisations.
The conference is meant to offer a platform for a healthy exchange of experiences for experts of national, regional and international repute involved in the promotion of ethics and prevention of corruption in the legal sector, the statement said.
