The government will co-operate with the International Association of Lions Clubs to enable them fulfill its obligations, the Vice-President Dr Mohammed Shein has said.

Dr Shein made the remarks on Monday while officiating at the fourth annual meeting of the International Association of Lions Clubs Multiple District 411 in Arusha.

The Association of Lions Clubs comprises Kenya, Uganda, Ethiopia, Seychelles and Tanzania.

``Lions Clubs play a vital role in eye and heart operations for sick people, particularly the poor, thus assisting the government in its efforts to provide health facilities to its people,`` he said.

The vice-president hailed the association, promising that the government would offer its support for them to operate smoothly in the country.

``Let me assure you that the government values your contribution, and would ensure that you receive its support so that you can operate effectively,`` he added.
