Zanzibar gets representative at Tanga rally

Mussa Talia is the only driver who will represent Zanzibar in the Tanga Rally Championship set for May 26-27.

``I am the only driver who will represent Zanzibar in the Tanga rally,`` Talia said in Dar es Salaam yesterday.

The rally, organised by the Tanga Motor Rally Sports Club, will also attract drivers from Kenya.

They are Hijaz Mirza and Said Hamadi, both based in Mombasa. The rally is the third round of the national rally championship series.

The first round was held in Iringa last year while the second was staged in Kilimanjaro about two months ago.

More than 20 drivers are expected to take part in a 350km rally sponsored by Tanga Petroleum Company (TAPCO).

Other local drivers who have already confirmed are Sameer Nahdi Shanto, Omar Bakhressa, Ahmed Huwel, Saleh Balhabou, Kirit Pandya and Salim Hajj.

Others are Navraj Hans, Amarjit Dhilon, Gamdust Hajj, Ajay Palmar, Khalid Kassim and Daudi Kidawawa.

There are also Hassan Bakari, Ali Kassam, Hussein Mdabi, Hassan Baabadi, Issa Mohammed, Shawn Millel, Abdul Mohammed, Said Boghoza, Shan Abbas Fazal, Utu Nirmar, Aliajar Fazal, Pinjau Primam and Nassor Mohammed.
