Kikwete appoints two new ambassadors

President Jakaya Kikwete on Wednesday appointed two new ambassadors and shifted two others to different working stations.

A statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation said the president appointed John Kijazi (51) as the country’s ambassador to India, and Peter Allan Kallaghe as Tanzania’s ambassador to Canada.

Kijazi replaces Ambassador Eva Ndazo who has retired, while Kallaghe takes over from Ambassador Ombeni Yohana Sefue, who has been shifted to the United States of America.

Kikwete also shifted Ambassador Msuya Waidi Mangachi (56) from Ethipia to Nigeria.

Before their new appointments, Kijazi was a senior official in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation while Kallaghe was the Head of Communication Department at the State House.

President Kikwete recently appointed Amina Said (50), new Iringa regional commissioner and changed stations of two regional commissioners in a mini-reshuffle announced on Monday.

According to a press statement issued by the Prime Minister`s Office in Dar es Salaam, Said replaces Halima Kasungu, who has been transferred to the PMO (Regional Administration and Local Government).

Before her new appointment, Said served as Bukoba district commissioner, said the statement, adding that her predecessor, Kasungu, would be assigned new duties.

In the reshuffle, Col. (rtd) Anatoli Tarimo, previously Manyara Regional Commissioner has been transferred to Mtwara Region, swapping with Henry Shekifu, who now becomes Manyara RC.
According to the statement, the appointments are with immediate effect.

The new Iringa RC is an ICT expert and holds a Master’s degree in Software Communications.

Before her appointment, Said worked with the Zanzibar Planning Commission from 1982 to 1992 and served as a senior analyst/programmer.

The new Iringa RC worked with the National Bank of Commerce (NBC) from 1993 to1997, before moving to the National Microfinance Bank (NMB) as ICT manager from 1997 to 2002, and later as Information Technology and Marketing Manager with the National Bureau of Statistics.

 From 2004 to 2007 she worked as vice-chairperson of the Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority (TCRA).
