The Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation, Bernard Membe, left over the weekend for a five-day visit to Japan from May 13 to 17, this year.

Japanese Embassy sources said during his visit, Membe will meet his counterpart Taro Aso in a foreign ministerial meeting to discuss bilateral relations, regional and international issues.

A statement issued last Thursday by the Japanese embassy in Dar es Salaam said that during his visit Membe will also exchange views with officials in different agencies, public and private companies.

Minister Membe will pay a visit to the Aichi Prefecture which has been in contact with Tanzania since the 2005 World Exposition to meet the Mayor of Komaki city before a visit to Nagoya.

The visit is expected to further develop Japan – Tanzania friendly relations, said the statement.
