The government has said youth should be given first priority in using Information and Communication Technology, as a way of improving their skills to become self employed.

This was said yesterday in Dar es Salaam by the Deputy Minister for Infrastructure Development, Dr Makongoro Mahanga, when opening a three-day exhibition on ICT known as “Connecting the Youth”.

Dr Mahanga said that the main objective of the show was to bring together the young people in order to raise awareness on ICT issues in the country; and change the young generations` life by creating self-employment.

He said that the show would help those living in rural areas get an opportunity to expose themselves to the new technological gadgets and in turn, improve their well being.

The Director General of the Tanzania Communication Regulatory Authority, Prof John Nkoma, said that his authority would ensure equal opportunity for all players in the sector.

He also said that TCRA had also launched a website www.TCRA.go.tz for people to get information on the authority.
