Four Dar residents in court over theft

Two Dar residents yesterday landed in court on allegations of stealing 1500 litres of diesel worth 2m/- the property of the Royal Norwegian Embassy.

The prosecution alleged in Kisutu Resident Magistrate Court that Twalim Hiyari (30) and Samson Muyovera (26) stole 1,500 litres of diesel valued at 2,030,000/-.

It was alleged before Resident Magistrate Hezron Mwankenja that the offence was committed on May14, this year at Oyester Bay in Kinondoni District within the city.

The accused, however, denied the charge and the case has been adjourned to May 30, this year when it comes up for mention.

In another development, Mwajabu Kaseko (39) and Salama (37) were also brought to the same court to answer charges of stealing contrary to the penal law.

According to the prosecution, the accused stole various items including a television set, tables and clothes, all valued at 1,024,000/-, the property of Abdul Mwanyitanda.

The accused committed the offence on May 13, this year at Msasani Bonde la Mpunga in Kinondoni District within the city.

The accused pleaded not guilty and the case comes up for mention on May 30, this year.
