Inspector General of Police Said Mwema has made changes in the top leadership of the Police Force.

Police spokesman Esaka Mugasa told a press conference in Dar es Salaam yesterday that the changes were meant to improve efficiency and took effect on Tuesday.

Under the changes, Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police (SACP) Venance Tossi, hitherto Kagera Regional Police Commander, moves to the Police headquarters to head a special operations unit.

ACP Isaya Mngulu, formerly Tanga Regional Police Commander, has also been transferred to the headquarters’ inspection section.

The changes have also seen former Shinyanga regional police chief ACP Simon Sirro moved to Tanga in similar capacity.

ACP Mugasa said ACP Mselem Mtulia, until Tuesday stationed at the Police headquarters, has been named police commander of the Tanzania Railway Authority. He takes over from ACP Henry Salewi, who is now Coast RPC.

Former Coast regional police chief ACP Shaibu Ibrahim has meanwhile been transferred to Shinyanga in similar capacity.

Mugasa said ACP Liberatus Lyimo from the Investigation department at the headquarters has been moved to the Dar es Salaam Police Special Zone to head the finance and administration unit. He replaces ACP Abdallah Msika, now Kagera RPC.
