Man sets himself on fire to death

A man committed suicide after he set himself ablaze in Dar es Salaam on Tuesday while in another incident, a boy was found dead in unexplained circumstances.
Kinondoni Regional Police Commander Jamal Rwambow confirmed the development saying Robert Kandaga (50) died after he set himself on fire ignited by petrol.
The fire, which swept through his room at Manzese Midizini also destroyed his household property.
The police could not give further details stating that the wife, Fatuma Saidi (40), with the details, collapsed after the incident.
`The only person who would have given the details on the incident is the one who collapsed after the incident,` he said.
Rwambow said quick action by the neighbours and the fire brigade managed to put out the fire, which only destroyed a room out of the six.
`Neighbours and the Fire Brigade managed to put out the fire. Luckily, the fire had gutted only one out of the six rooms,` the RPC added.
The police are yet to establish what lead to the man committing suicide.
The body of the deceased has been preserved at Mwananyamala Municipal Hospital.
In another incident, a Standard Five pupil of Bunju `A` Primary School, Rahma Abbas (13) was found dead behind the house of Jumanne Mohamed (80) in Bunju B.
Rwambow said Mohamed informed the police of the incident where the deceased was found tied with a rope on both her neck and arms.
Police have launched a massive manhunt for the killers.
The body of the deceased is preserved at Mwananyamala Municipal Hospital.
