Be innovative, Kikwete tells phone firms

President Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete has called upon all communication companies to use new technology more innovatively for the wellbeing of the society.

The President made the call yesterday in Dar es Salaam at the launching ceremony of a mobile phone Blackberry Smartphone to be used by Celtel customers in the country.

``The advanced communication system especially mobile phone has converted the world into a small village,`` said the President.

He said that changes in technology are moving at a fast pace, and called upon communication companies to be innovative for the betterment of their customers.

Celtel Chief Executive Officer Bashar Arafeh told the audience at the ceremony that the new mobile phone has a website which provides email services at a fast pace.

The CEO said the new phone has a quality screen which can attract more than 65,000 colours, and can be used as phone and has facilities for pictures.

The gadget can preserve memory, and search information through the website as well as the satellite.

The Emitac Mobile Solution (EMS) official Babar Khan commended partnership with Celtel in this newly renovation of Blackberry.

Khan said mobile subscribers would enjoy the services provided by the new gadget which provides use friendly way to send emails around the world.
