US$ 4,000 awaits Nane Nane rally champion

A special piece of Tanzanite Jewellery valued at US$ 4000 will be presented to the top performing driver in this year`s instalment of Nane Nane Rally which takes place in Tanzania\'s northern safari capital of Arusha, this weekend.
More than 30 drivers will compete for both the prize and the large trophy that go with it.
The first runner-up on the other hand stands to get a round-trip, holiday package worth US$ 2,500, while the second runner-up packs in a Personal Acer (Intel Duo Core) Computer set valued at US$ 1050, according to the chairman of Arusha Motor Sports Club (AMSC), Walter Maeda.
The event, organized by the AMSC in collaboration with Media Works\' corporate outfitters, will bring together more than 30 cars entries from Tanzania, Kenya and Zambia.
According to Maeda, ace wheel spinner, Ben Muchemi, who is a three-time Kenyan motor rally winner, will be making scene for the first time in this year`s Nane Nane Rally, an annual motor racing event which is once more set to raise dust in parts of Arusha and Manyara regions on Saturday and Sunday.
The rally will be flagged off by Arusha District Commissioner Evance Balama at the Sheikh Amri Abeid Stadium in the afternoon of Saturday, racing on towards Usa-River, Kikatiti, Boma-Ng\'ombe and Mirerani hills.
On Sunday, the machines will speed again from the yard, retracing the previous route and back again for finishing at the Tanzanite-One Yard.
The Arusha Regional Commissioner, Col. Samuel A. Ndomba, is expected to present the trophies and prizes to the winners at a brief ceremony to be held at the Tanzanite-One yard on Sunday evening. The first driver is expected to report at the finishing point in Mererani by at least 3.30pm.
