Taifa Stars coach Marcio Maximo has dropped Athuman Idd of Young Africans (Yanga) in his new squad. Maximo introduced newcomer JKT Ruvu goalie Shaban Ndihule to replace the midfielder in the 23 players he called to form the team.
Idd was in the squad which played away Senegal in the first leg of the 2008 African Cup of Nations, Group Seven qualifying match in Dakar early this year.
The Brazilian coach did not include him in the return matches against Senegal and Burkina Faso played in Mwanza and Ouagadougou respectively.
Maximo said he based his selection on discipline, performance, tactical option and age.
Idd was recently suspended from playing six matches in the ongoing Tusker Cup in Mwanza because of ill-discipline.
Maximo said that two players in the team will not travel with the team to Europe.
They are Victor Costa and newcomer Ndihule.
Taifa Stars leave for Europe on Saturday for a two weeks training in Denmark and Switzerland ahead of the African Cup of Nations Group Seven last match against Mozambique set for September 8 in Tanzania.
The coach said the Europe visit would give the players exposure and experience.
The players who will leave for Europe are Ivo Mapunda, Ally Mustafa, Erasto Nyoni, Amir Maftah, Mecky Maxime, Salum Sued, Henry Morris, Shaban Nditi, Abdulhaim Amour, Nadir Haroub, Meshack Abel, Nizar Khalfan, Jerry Tegete, Kigi Makasi, Abdi Kassim Malegesi Mwangwa, Haruna Moshi, Said Maulid, Joseph Kaniki and Danny Mrwanda.
