Mbeya police impound TTCL stolen wires

Police in Mbeya have impounded wires worth millions of shillings property of the Tanzania Telecommunication Company (TTCL)

Speaking to journalists over the weekend, Mbeya Regional Police Commander Suleiman Kova said that they also arrested Subiri Kanyela (22), an employee of Bantu, a security company of Simike in Mbeya for allegedly conducting a secret meeting with robbers.

He further added that, the security guard confessed that on the material day, he was on duty at the TTCL wire store and had opened the door.

 He added that the robbers abandoned the car, Toyota Mark II with registration number T742 AAS used in the incident to carry the stolen wires.

`We are not sure of the weight of the wires, but we believe they are worth millions of shillings,` Kova said.

The accused promised to cooperate with the police to arrest the rest of the robbers who vanished immediately after they saw the police proceeding to arrest them. 

Meanwhile the law enforcers in the region have embarked on a regional wide patrol to nab people who steal TTCL and Tanesco wires.
