About 60 beneficiaries of the Norwegian Exchange Programme for social and development professionals will meet in Dar es Salaam today, to assess achievements made so far.

The programme, sponsored by a Norwegian institution, Fredskopset, provides opportunities for young and mid-career professionals to work for one year in Norway followed by another in any African country.

A statement issued by the Tanzania Media Women Association (TAMWA) said the one-day meeting at Peacock Hotel will also discuss challenges facing the programme and chart the way forward.

Foreigners currently serving in different institutions in Dar es Salaam and upcountry under the programme will also attend, it said.

About 100 Tanzanians have benefited from the six year old programme by living and working in Norway, Kenya, Uganda, Zambia, Ethiopia, Malawi, Nigeria and South Africa.

It said the beneficiaries also include journalists, members of TAMWA and the Journalists Environmental Association of Tanzania (JET).

Other institutions participating in the programme also include Bagamoyo College of Arts, Bagamoyo Secondary School, Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA), Muhimbili College of Health Sciences (MUCHS) and Tanzania Wildlife Research Institute (TAWIRI).
