Use research results to enhance nation`s prosperity - Mengi

Biased research results can seriously affect the business of involved clients, but an unbiased study, which can only be undertaken by professional and experienced organizations, stand to enhance prosperity.
The remarks were made in Dar es Salaam over the weekend by the IPP Executive Chairman Reginald Mengi during the launch of InfoTrack Research and Consulting Tanzania and Harris Interactive USA Global affiliation.
Mengi said that through the affiliation, InfoTrack and Consulting Tanzania stands to benefit from the vast professional experience and research techniques that Harris Interactive Global USA brings with it.
It is through affiliation that InfoTrack and Consulting Tanzania will acquire research professional competence that will enable it pursue unbiased practice, noted Mengi.
He said that the private sector which is the engine of economic growth cannot perform adequately without sustainable development that addresses social economic concerns and environmental issues.
`These issues cannot be properly addressed if they are not adequately researched and their impact correctly measured,` he said.
He said that research enables chief executive officers and managers of businesses to develop sound business development decisions and implementation strategies.
`Research provides opportunity for business entities to re-examine their business development plans and strategies in order to put in place long term initiatives that help improve productivity as well as delivery of goods and services,` he noted.
He said research on diseases, for example, enables businesses to address health issues at work places and within the communities where they operate for prevention, care and treatment programs.
Diseases slow down economic growth, reduce productivity and weaken consumer or purchase base, he noted.
The affiliation, he said, will provide business access to research in many areas and to new manufacturing methods and technologies to enable manufacturers enhance their productivity.
The Managing Director of Infotrack research and consulting Tanzania Angela Ambitho said that `environmental research promotes good practice on environmental management for business sustainability and therefore ability to create revenue.`
She said that research could be used to identify alternative and cheaper sources of raw materials of energy that help reduce cost of production and enhance business profits.
