Mwanga robbery suspects in court

Twenty people suspected of taking part in an armed robbery at the NBC Branch of Mwanga and making away with more than 230m/- were supposed to appear in court yesterday.
The Kilimanjaro Police Commander, Lucas Ng’hoboko, told a press conference here that the accused included two Kenyans and 18 Tanzanians.
They are Nathaniel Amoni, a police officer, Manyama alias Marck Atien or Bahari (33), Samweli Gitau Saitoti alias Saimoo and Michael Kimani Peter alias Kim who are Kenyan nationals.
He said that Elizabeth Elias, a resident of Kwa Ngulelo in Arusha Municipality and the two Kenyans alleged to have been found in possession of four pistols, one sub-machinegun (SMG), three hand grenades and an assortment of pistol and machine-gun ammunition; had surrendered to the police.
Ng’hoboko named three other women suspects as Devotha Elias Msanze (32) and Julian Elias Masanze (47), all residents of Kwa Ngulelo in Arusha Municipality and Salome Sebastian Matemu, the Operations Manager of the robbed bank.
Other suspects are Fadhili Msuya (40), a resident of Kimandolu in Arusha, Kalista Kanje (44) of Kisambo Farm, Sanya Juu in Hai District, and Deodati Temu alias Deo or Fundi, a resident of Mwanga District.
Others are Emanuel Mzirai alias Emma (33), Floriani Kimati alias Babyloni or Dalali (39), a resident of Soweto in Arusha Municipality.
Two suspects are still at large, including Gabriel Frank Olotu (28), a resident of Vatican Sinza, in Dar-es-Salaam City.
Others are Edgar Ndesokia Minja alias Mbutoi or Baba Vanesa, Aloyce Shija alias Babuu a resident of Pasua in Moshi Municipality, Thomasi Laizer alias Swalehe or Mdoe a resident of Njiro in Arusha Municipality.
The list includes a suspect known by one name of Shehe, who rotates between Arusha and Moshi municipalities and Kijanaa alias Kamwana of Arusha.
The robbery occurred on July 11, this year at 7.15pm when a group of about six people ambushed the bank and made away with more than 230m/- in cash.
The accused are alleged to have shot to death police officer Michael and wounded PC Naftael, before stealing two SMGs and 60 rounds of ammunition, property of the Police Force.
The robbers exchanged fire with the police in Moshi during which a bandit was killed as they fled with their loot.
Police recovered three pistols and several rounds of ammunition.
Investigations gained steam on July 19, this year after the police discovered hideouts in Kwa Ngulelo and Njiro Kontena suburbs of Arusha Town.
