By Correspondent Premy Kibanga, Kishapu, Shinyanga

CCM Chairman President Jakaya Kikwete has warned that any CCM member who will bribe voters in the forthcoming party elections will be sacked from the post.

He gave the warning yesterday during a public rally held at Kishapu in Shinyanga.

“I warn all party members that there will be no mercy to any leader proven to have bought their way in. We cannot let people who buy their position lead the party,” he said.
Kikwete said he had already put his spies who will provide him with the necessary information.

President Kikwete directed district and regional political committees to assess the election and insisted that the focus should be on leaders who bribed their way in.

The ruling Chama cha Mapinduzi starts party elections at district level today.

Elections at regional level shall be held from September 10 to 11 this year, while at the national level the election will be held on November 3 and 4.

During his tour, the President Kikwete launched a modern livestock auction jointly sponsored by the government and the African Development Bank.

The 14.4bn/- project, aimed at increasing earnings to livestock keepers, is located at Muhunze, a famous livestock area.

He said the government intended to re-establish the Shinyanga meat canning factory.

“We have already got an investor and will sign a contract with him later,” he said.
