The government has warned officials in Bagamoyo district, Coast Region, masquerading, as close associates of the President and misuse the powers given or show lack of respect to the public to cease the malpractice forthwith.
The warning to that end comes in the wake of alleged `obstinacy and arrogance` shown by those who claim to be associates of the President, who are reportedly threatening members of the public to give them undue respect.
Addressing villagers from various wards in the district, the Bagamoyo District Commissioner, Lt. Col Serenge Mrengo said there had been complaints raised by members of the public to that effect, hence the concern by the district authorities.
He said some bureaucrats in the district had unacceptable attitudes of pretending to be close to the President and therefore being untouchables. He added that the attitudes affected their performance.
Col. Mrengo said such behaviour was not only unjustifiable, but also unacceptable as it was against exemplary good governance leadership of which the President stood for.
`If you believe that you are related to the President that does not imply that you should misuse the powers given or show lack of respect to the public,`he said.
