Child aged three days is found dead in dump

A three-day-old baby boy was found dead at the Kigogo dumping site in Dar es Salaam on Sunday.

The Kinondoni Regional Police Commander, Jamal Rwambow, said that, the garbage disposal director Prashid Mtemi informed the police that he saw the dead body of the three-day baby wrapped with a khanga.

The commander said the deceased`s body was preserved at the Mwananyamala Hospital morgue.

Police were still searching for the whereabouts of the mother responsible for the ugly act.

In another incident, a pedestrian, Salehe Saidi Mtengele (25) died on the spot after he was hit by a Subaru car that was taking part in the city car rally on Sunday.

Speaking to reporters on the incident, Temeke Regional Police Commander Emanuel Kandihabi mentioned the driver of the vehicle which hit Said as Annali Fandiya (37) from Nairobi.

The RPC said Said was driving from Mvuti to Mbagala Rangi Tatu.

The body of the deceased was preserved at Temeke District Hospital morgue while the driver was under police arrest waiting for the filing of charges in court.
