A delegation of seven senior media officials from China have underscored the importance of building strong relationship between journalists of the oriental country and their Tanzanian counterparts.
The team which comprises editors and senior journalists are in the country for a six days tour and had their first tour in The Guardian offices yesterday.
Wen Hui Bao newspaper senior editor Wang Lan speaking on behalf of the delegation, said that the purpose of their trip was to understand and help further the bilateral relations between the two countries.
In addition, Lan said that the delegation was also in the country to study the media situation and try to build cooperation between media practitioners of the two nations.
``In November last year there was a China-Africa Forum held in Beijing-China.
Among the agenda that were discussed and agreed was to create good relations between journalists of the two continents so that the people of either side could get information that would strengthen our relation.
Thus this trip is part of implementing what was agreed in Beijing last year,`` she said.
Speaking about their first impression of the country, Lan said that the delegation was satisfied with the peaceful atmosphere that exists in Tanzania.
She said that formally they had not had a good picture of Tanzania, but after they had stayed in the country for one day, they have realised that it is quite a beautiful one.
However, Lan said that despite the fact that in the past few years there were many reports on Africa and Tanzania, more efforts should be exerted to promote the tourism sector in order to attract many Chinese people to come in the continent.
``Our tour has opened our eyes, especially after realising that Tanzania has many tourist resources and good infrastructure.
We promise that when we go back to our country we will promote Tanzania`s tourism sector and other agenda, which we will get from this visit,`` she said.
