Maalim Seif declines Eid invitation

The secretary general of the Civic United Front, who had been invited to attend an Eid Baraza, in which President Amani Karume will be the chief guest, has turned down the invitation.
Instead, the opposition CUF will hold its own Eid Baraza at Jamat Khan Hall in Zanzibar.
On the other hand, Zanzibar government leaders, including President Karume, Chief Minister Shamsi Vuai Nahodha and Deputy Chief Minister Ali Juma Shamhuna will attend another Eid Baraza at the People`s House.
The CCM leaders` Baraza will take place soon after Eid prayers have ended at Mwembeshauri mosque.
The Mufti of Zanzibar, Sheikh Harith Bin Khelef, will also attend the prayers.
A senior CUF official has said the party had organized its own Baraza so as to provide an opportunity for the people and their leaders to celebrate Eid together at the end of the Ramadan fast.
`Maalim Seif cordially invites you to attend an Eid Baraza which will take place at 10.00am at Jamat Khan Hall,` reads an official invitation card.
`We confirm that the government has invited our secretary general. Oftentimes, such invitations have been confined to the secretary general, thus excluding a big number of CUF followers,` the official said.
