The British Council in Dar es Salaam will today award certificates of achievement in English, to 32 Southern Sudanese lawyers.
A statement issued yesterday in Dar es Salaam by the British Council said that the course was provided in collaboration with UNDP Southern Sudan and Christian Aid.
It said the award was aimed at addressing the needs of the government of Southern Sudan through training in English to prepare them for their roles as lawyers back home in Juba.
Throughout the 12 week programme, the lawyers were taught a new language and culture to give them new confidence, and expose them to new cultural experiences that would enable them to work at an international level.
The ceremony would be officiated at by Director of British Council Tanzania Kate Ewart-Biggs and Director of Training and Research at the Ministry of Legal Affairs and Constitutional Development in Southern Sudan, Deng Biong, said the statement.
It said other officials from the Embassy of Sudan in Dar es Salaam were also invited.
The British Council is the UK`s leading international and cultural organisation registered in Britain as a charity and non-departmental public body.
It operates in 238 towns and cities in 110 countries and territories worldwide.
It also enhances learning opportunities and builds access and understanding between Africa, the UK and the rest of the global community.
