The United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) Head Eshila Hazel Maravanyika has challenged the Tanzania media to observe ethics in quest to eradicate poverty and achieve the country`s development goals.

Maravanyika made the remarks last Thursday in Dar es Salaam when a delegation from the UNIC Dar es salaam toured the Guardian Limited offices.

According to her, every year in the month of October, members of the UN celebrate the founding of organization by collaborating with different media as strategic link to the community.

`We are looking forward to have a network that will make media industry and UN body to interact and collaborate on regular basis. If we don`t work together, very little can be achieved,` she added

Maravanyika said that media practitioners in the country have the obligation of assisting international organizations and the government in achieving the Millennium Development Goals and halving of poverty.

`Media practitioners should be liberal and cooperative to help their own societies to attain developments.

Why should we depend on international organizations while we can do it? Let`s all play our part` she added
UNIC country boss said that in this year, as of part commemoration of UN, agencies will conduct a free HIV/AIDs testing and counseling in Dar es Salaam

According to her, other activities include visiting of all Dar es Salaam municipalities where they will take part in cleaning the surroundings and later provide humanitarian services to selected schools in the Coast region
She commended the Guardian limited for the good work in the fight against HIV/Aids and poverty in the country.

The UN will commemorate its founding day on October 24th.
