Bakari Mshangani became the first winner amongst the pupils who participated in regional competition this year, followed by Hussein Said (14), from Gumba Primary School in the district.

The winner was awarded 50,000/- while his school was awarded 60,000/-. Hussein Said was awarded 30,000/- and his school 40,000/-.

Last year, the winner got an award of 50,000/- at regional level and 150,000/-at the national level.

The coordinator said during a brief handing over ceremony of the awards to the winners at Kibaha Township in the region that the aim of the competition was to promote the talents of the pupils.

The chief assistant Regional Administrative Secretary, Yusuph Matumbo, who was the guest of honour, called on the pupils to be more committed in their talents to build a bright future for themselves.

`You may become professionals and make good living in this field of fine art if you are committed to developing your talents,` he said.

He said most of the committed fine artists were highly respected due to their commitment and they saw their job as important as any other profession on earth.
