The Minister of State in the President`s Office, Public Service Management, Hawa Ghasia has called upon civil servants in the country to work as a team instead of discharging their duties as individuals.
Ghasia was speaking at the weekend during a function organised to bid farewell to the out going chairman, commissioners and other public servants of the Public Service Commission.
The occasion was also used to welcome the new chairman.
She said that public servants should strive to work as a team in order to produce the best results needed for the development of the nation.
She said that the public service management required a collective approach and that one person could hardly realise the achievements on their own.
She called upon the new chairman and the commissioners to continue with the work that the old board started and that her office would give them full co-operation.
Ghasia said that under the leadership of the out going board, the commission was able to come up with new approaches in accordance with the Public Service Management Act Number 8 of 2002.
She said that the commission was able to handle civil servants complaints with care and consideration, adding that it was also able to manage appeals made to the commission.
She said that the Public Service Management Commission would continue to serve civil servants and make sure that it solved their problems.
She said that there were a lot of problems facing the civil servants and that the government was not in a position to solve them at once but through step by step interventions.
She said that the outgoing board had solved all the problems using the simple way which was negotiating with public servants. She said she hoped that the new board would follow the footsteps of the outgoing team.
