Deloitte & Touche donates 7m/- to the needy

An auditing firm, Deloitte & Touche has donated items worth 7m/- to four organisations as part of the company`s celebration to mark Impact Day, an annual event for service to the local community.
The donated items, which included toiletries, beddings, foodstuffs and special needs tools and equipment, were given to hospitals, orphanages and schools for the disabled.
Speaking at the celebration to mark the firm`s Impact Day over the weekend, Deloitte Managing Partner, Eshak Harunani said:``We at Deloitte recognize that we are part of this community and have a responsibility to give back``.
As part of the celebration, Deloitte employees logged over 300 hours of community service by; donating more than 40 units of blood, mosquito nets and mattresses to Muhimbili Hospital.
The firm also donated 2m/- towards the construction of special lavatories for the Mbeya School for Disabled, mosquito nets and mattresses to Tumbi Hospital, and further visited 50 students at the Uhuru Machanganyiko Blind School and donated 2 braille machines.
During the celeberations children at the New Life Orphanage received clothing, materials and foodstuff from the firm.
To celebrate and showcase year-round community involvement activities, many Deloitte member firms designate a day of service, Impact Day, to make an impact on the communities where they work and live.
``As an annual event, Impact Day is important because employees at Deloitte interact with each other, promote teamwork, deliver on our values, and make a difference on our communities,`` Harunani said.
Deloitte employees all over the world, take part in a variety of community investment activities, such as cleaning public facilities, and fundraising.
