The Disabled Organisation for Legal Affairs and Social Development (Dolased) has launched a HIV and Aids Awareness and Disability Rights Manual.
The manual aims at highlighting to the people with disabilities, the dangers posed by the disease.
Speaking to The Guardian after the launching last Friday, Gideon Kaino Mandesi, Dolased Chairman said it was imperative for people with disabilities to be warned on HIV/Aids infections and how to protect themselves.
``We have launched this manual today so that the government, civil society organisations and the community at large could help achieve rights of the disabled persons in the country,`` he said.
According to him, the manual provides information on disabilities, HIV/Aids, disability rights, advocacy and leadership skills.
Mandesi added that the information contained in the manual intends to broaden the knowledge of emerging leaders in the disability community and young people with disabilities.
He said he was hopeful that the manual will be of useful to individual persons who work in both fields of disability and HIV/Aids advocacy and prevention.
He said in order for the manual to achieve its intended goal to the people with disabilities who have special communication needs, the manual should be translated into different languages so that the message could reach many people with disabilities across the country.
He said the manual would make a positive contribution, not only to the people with disabilities, but also to the community at large.
