By Juma Ng`oko, PST, Mwanza

Police in Mwanza who had gone to arrest a local medicinewoman, Salome Kashinje (40), a resident of Igoma suburb, could not accomplish their mission after a huge `cluster` of bees and snakes appeared on the scene, threatening to attack them.

According to the Mwanza Regional Police Commander, Zelothe Stephen, his officers encountered the frightening incident on arrival at Kashinje`s residence on December 20 this year, to undertake investigations into the murder of Kagombo Yakobo (45) and his wife Dalahile Nkilijiwa (30), both former residents of Buhongwa suburb in the city. The couple is alleged to have been murdered by two people who also took the woman’s sexual and physical organs.

Stephen elaborated that the police had arrived at Kashinje`s residence for inspection following tips from a good Samaritan that the former was hiding a woman suspected to have been involved in the murder, to administer rituals for keeping her away from arrest.

``The police managed to find Usiah Masai, a resident of Buhongwa, who claimed to have gone to wash her clothes; in the company of Kashinje, the medicinewoman. Kashinje confessed that she was conducting some ritual proceedings on her at a price of 1,000/-,`` said Stephen.

He said that to confirm Masai’s claims, the police decided to enter the house to ascertain the presence of the claimed clothes.
According to the regional police chief, as soon as the police entered the house, bees and snakes suddenly surfaced menacingly to attack them.

``They decided to postpone the exercise in fear of their lives, but we are rearranging our ranks to counter the threat of the insects and reptiles,`` said Stephen.
