Tanzanian pilgrim suffers heart attack in S. Arabia

The National Muslim Council (Bakwata) has said one of the Tanzanian Muslims who went to Saudi Arabia for this year`s pilgrimage has suffered a heart attack and is admitted to hospital in Madina.
Speaking to reporters at his office in Dar es Salaam yesterday, Bakwata secretary general Ali Mzee said all the remaining 1,500 pilgrims were safe and were expected back yesterday night.
Asked about her condition, the secretary general said: ``Saida Said Rugarabamu from Kagera Region was seriously ill and has been hospitalised at one of the hospitals in Madina where she is under intensive care of the doctors treating her,``
He said she would be returned home as soon as her condition stabilised.
He said the first batch of 188 pilgrims were expected to arrive at the Julius Nyerere International Airport at 9pm yesterday.
He added that the second group comprising another 188 pilgrims would be arriving at 04.00hrs today morning by Yemen Airlines.
Mzee further announced that the Bakwata Mufti, Sheikh Issa bin Shaaban Simba, would be accompanying the pilgrim during the return flight and would be received at the airport by government officials and Muslim leaders.
