Dar resident arraigned for murder

A resident of Kariakoo in Dar es Salaam, Ally Buma (65), has been arraigned before Resident Magistrate Janeth Kinyage oft the Ilala District Court in the city for murder.

Assistant Inspector of Police Denis Mujumba alleged in court on Friday that on January 5, this year, at the junction of Pemba and Sikukuu streets at Kariakoo, the accused did murder one Mwita Chacha.

The accused was not allowed to enter any plea to the charge as the court has no jurisdiction to hear and determine murder cases.The case comes up for another mention on January 24, this year.

Meanwhile, two Gongo la Mboto residents on Friday appeared in the same court charged with robbery with violence.

The accused are Juma Samwel (23) and Bakary Abdallah (22).

Assistant Inspector of Police Daniel Buma told Resident Magistrate Samuel Maweda that on December 24, last year, at Gngo la Mboto on the outskirts of the city, the accused did steal one fire arm, a shotgun with serial No.882210 and five rounds of ammunition, property of one Jamal Iddy.

It was alleged that prior to committing the offence, the accused threatened the victim with machetes and clubs to force him part with the gun.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge and the case comes up for another mention on January 22, this year.
