At long last the rigour of the due process of the law has finally and conclusively landed on a Dar es Salaam resident who has been sentenced to a life imprisonment term for committing unnatural offence to a child of tender age.

Ramadhan Mohamed (21) was jailed yesterday in Kinondoni District Court in the early hours of the daty.

The deterrent punishment was imposed on the accused by Resident Magistrate Salome Mshasha after the court was satisfied beyond all reasonable doubt that none but the accused himself committed the offence preferred against him.

The Court had considered and evaluated prosecution evidence given in court by three prosecution witnesses.

The court made a finding to the effect that the accused, who was a businessman, had carnal knowledge against the order of nature of a 9 year old Grade three boy schooling at Mburahati Muungano Primary School situated in Kinondoni District in the City.

The accused when called upon to say anything in mitigation, simply remained silent for a while, only to say he would appeal.

Earlier, Inspector of Police Mohamed Kilongo prayed the court to give the convict a deterrent punishment.

According to the prosecution the accused committed the offence at Mburahati Barafu area in Kinondoni District within the City on May 13, 2005.
