Trader charged with unlawful possession of goods

A trader, who resides in Gongo la Mboto, Dar es Salaam appeared before Resident Magistrate Incharge Joyce Minde in Ilala District Court on Friday where he was charged with unlawful possession of goods.

Assistant Inspector of police Daniel Buma alleged that on February 23, this year, the accused committed the offence at the office of the director of Ilala Municipal Council along Mission Street and Sokoine Drive in Ilala District.

It was alleged that on the material day, the accused was found in possession of seventeen documents of Ilala Municipal Council`s legal section from which may have been unlawfully acquired.

Magistrate Incharge Minde adjourned the case to March 14, this year when it comes for another mention.

Meanwhile, three residents of Pugu in Dar es Salaam, appeared before District Magistrate Mwanaisha Chande in the same court, charged with stealing Ilala Municipal Property.

Assistant Inspector of Police Musa Gumbo claimed that the three, Fabian Lazaro (30), Mohamed Mussa (28) and Saidi Doglas (19), jointly did steal 30 pieces of flag marts worth 600,000/-; property of Ilala Municipal Council.

The offence was committed at Ferry within Ilala District in the city on February 17, this year.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge and the case is slated for mention on March 14, this year.

In another incident, businessman Rajabu Said (28), who resides at Vingunguti in the city, appeared in the same court charged with robbery with violence.

Assistant Inspector of police Musa Gumbo alleged that the accused committed the offence on July 21, last year, at Vingunguti in the city.

It was alleged that on the day of the event, the accused stole one mobile phone of Siemens make, valued at 25,000/- and 47,000/- cash, all valued at 72,000/-, the property of Sabith Zuber.

It was further claimed that immediately before or after the incident, the accused did use actual violence in order to obtain and retain the said property.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge and was remanded in custody for lack of surety.

The case comes up for another mention on March 14, this year.
