The ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi Youth wing (UVCCM) has said from now onwards it would push for elimination from election process candidates who would embrace corruption and bribe the voters in order to win nomination or get elected in the wing`s internal elections.

In a strong-worded statement issued yesterday in Dar es Salaam, UVCCM`s general council also warned against government or party intervention saying the youth would support only competent candidates.

Addressing a news conference ahead of the wing`s elections late this year, UVCCM Chairman Emanuel Nchimbi said that the council would not accept any intervention by any person during up coming elections.

``UVCCM dislikes incompetent people and if it will discover that a candidate was backed by a certain leader or government official the choice will be dropped straight away,`` he said.

Nchimbi, who also doubles as Defence and National Service deputy minister said CCM`s national executive committee (NEC) endorsed the decision that party organs ``should be left to execute their functions`` uninterfered.

He announced that the council had set March 5 to December 13, this year as the period for collecting application forms and conducting election at all levels.

Nchimbi said elections at the district level would be conducted on October 25, this year while regional elections would be held on December 9, this year.

``The general conference will be held on December 13 and 14, this year,`` Nchimbi concluded.UVCCM elections are conducted after every five years.
