The Dar es Salaam Christian Mission Fellowship Church has donated 50 tricycles valued at 17.5m/- to people with disabilities in Namtumbo District, Ruvuma Region.

Bishop Godfrey Mgullu Kilimba of the church handed over the tricycles yesterday to the district council office at Namtumbo at a function attended by hundreds of the township residents including the beneficiaries.

Bishop Kilimba said the tricycles were for the first group of 50 people with disabilities and another batch of 50 tricycles would be donated next month, adding that the church had so far distributed 500 tricycles to other districts in the country and that there were 1600 tricycles waiting to be distributed to various other districts.

Bishop Kilimba called on all people with disabilities in the country not to give up hope or feel abandoned, saying no one had wanted to suffer disabilities and that God was with them in all their endeavours.

He further called for co-operation between the government and the people to ensure that those with disabilities received all necessary services in their communities.

He decried discrimination against people with disabilities, calling on the people to help them instead and allow them to make their contribution to society.

Namtumbo constituency legislator Vita Kawawa commended the church for the valuable donation to the people of his constituency.

He said people with disabilities were part of the society, adding that it was imperative that they were made to feel they could contribute to the development of their district and the country at large.
