Two Dar men hauled to court over armed robbery

Two Dar residents were yesterday arraigned before Resident Magistrate Mwanaisha Chande of Ilala District Court to face charges of armed robbery.
Assistant Inspector of Police Musa Gumbo alleged in court that on March 17, this year at Kinyerezi area within Ilala District, the accused, Moris Awiti (18), who resides at Kurasini and Hafidh Msuya (17), who lives in Upanga Fire area, did steal 30,000/- cash, a mobile phone valued at 70,000 all worth 100,000/-, the property of Iddy Ramadhani.
He said that immediately before and after such stealing, they stabbed him with a knife in order to obtain and retain the said properties.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge. They were not granted bail because armed robbery does not attract bail under the laws of the land.
The magistrate staled the case for another mention on April 1, this year.
Meanwihile, in the same court, and before the same resident magistrate, Hamis Masoud (21) of Mabibo within the city was brought to face charges of rape.
Assistant Inspector of Police Denis Mujumba alleged in court that on January 23, this year at Ukonga in Ilala District, the accused did have carnal knowledge of a girl of 13 years.
The accused denied the charge and was returned to remand custody after he failed to meet bail conditions.
The court had asked each of the accused to present two reliable sureties. The case comes up for another mention on Apri 2, this year.
Meanwhile, in the same court before resident Magistrate Janeth Kinyage, another city resident was charged with unlawful possession of narcotic drugs.
Prosecuter Mujumba Said alleged that the accused, Salum Malipila (22), who resides at Jangwani, was found in unlawful possession of 20 grams of cannabis sativa commonly known as bhang on March 17, this year at Jangwani.
The accused denied the charge and was returned to remand custody after he failed to meet bail conditions . The court had asked each of the accused to present two reliable sureties.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge. The case comes up for another meantion on April 1, this year.
