Experts picked by the government to recommend action to be taken against people and institutions implicated in the controversial emergency power contract involving Richmond Development Company presented their report to Prime Minister Mizengo Pinda yesterday.
A press statement issued by the Prime Minister`s Office in Dar es Salaam said the report would be worked on before official notification was made to the National Assembly on the action to be taken against confirmed culprits.
``The report which has been submitted will be worked on. The National Assembly will be informed on the action taken after the completion of the implementation of the recommendations,`` it said.
All the experts were appointed by the Prime Minister but their names have not been disclosed.
Some come from the Cabinet Secretariat in the President`s Office, the Prime Minister’s Office and what used to be the Planning Commission.
Others represent the President`s Office (Public Service Management), the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA), the PMO`s Regional Administration and Local Government wing, the Commission on Leadership Ethics, and the Attorney General`s Chambers.
The people linked to the scandal allegations were named last month by a parliamentary select committee chaired by Kyela legislator (CCM) Harrison Mwakyembe.
The House endorsed the committee`s recommendations with minor amendments at a historic meeting that saw former PM Edward Lowassa and two senior ministers resigning, prompting the dissolution and reconstitution of the Cabinet.
The select committee had recommended that disciplinary and legal action be taken against all those implicated in its report and that PPRA be made more effective.
