By Amri Lugungulo, PST, Kisarawe

A total of 183 teachers in Kisarawe District, Coast Region, will be paid arrears amounting to 91,127,948/- as accumulated dues for leave, transfer, study and medical allowances up to last year.

Speaking to PST on Thursday, District Education Officer Winifrida Mbuya said that payment of the arrears would be effected immediately after the government had disbursed the funds following verification of the claims.

``We are about to start paying arrears which have been verified as valid,`` said Mbuya, adding that the names of the respective teachers had been published.

She said in order for a claim to be valid it had to have supporting documents including letters of transfer, payment receipts in respect of colleges and letters of acknowledgement from the same colleges.

Other documents needed in the exercise, according to the district authorities, are treatment receipts, marriage and birth certificates for spouses and children, certified leave forms and fare tickets used.
