Dar now directs tourism promo to more EU countries

Aten-DAY major road show campaigns for promoting Tanzania`s tourist attractions in Europe is under way since Tuesday.

The promoters are Tanzania Tourist Board (TTB), Ngorongoro Conservational Area Authority (NCAA), while TARUK International, a PR Communications company is providing professional and logistical support.

It targets cities in Switzerland, Germany, and Austria.
Amant Macha, Director of Marketing at TTB has said that target cities would be tourist source markets for Tanzania.

This campaign costs Euros 67,000 as a hundred guests are targeted at each city during the series of the events.

Berlin, Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Munich, Zurich and Vienna are the main cities through which road shows would interlace to market Tanzania.

According to Macha, those three countries together generated 34,877 tourists who visited Tanzania in 2006, 19,651 coming from Germany, about 11,985 tourists from Switzerland while 3,241 hailed from Austria.

The event is also calculated to be providing time for a one- to- one contact to establish and cultivate business contacts and learn about the latest travel trends and developments of Tanzania tourism sector.

Tanzanian speakers at the road-shows include Minister for Natural Resources and Tourism, Hon. Shamsa Selengia Mwangunga, and Peter Mwenguo, TTB’s Managing Director.

Others include Mary Caneiro, Managing Director of Easy Travel and Tours, General Manager of DIAMIR, Director Breezes Beach Club and Spa Sujit Shah, and the Managing Director, Taruk International Johannes Haape.
