The Arab League is striving to end its long existing land conflict between Palestine and Israel. This is according to Mallalla Suwaid, the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates in Tanzania who is also Dean of the Arab Diplomatic Group in the country.
Speaking during the commemoration of the 63rd anniversary of the league’s creation, he said the conflict has become an issue of great concern to the Islamic and Arab world as well as the international community.
``We have joined our efforts to end the Arab-Israel conflict but this genuine initiative is rejected by Israel and ignored by the sole supporters of Israel``, said the Ambassador.
He said Israel continues with its genocidal policies against innocent civilian population of Palestine in clear defiance of all international laws and United Nations (UN) resolutions.
Suwaid said cooperation between League members and African countries is important because the world\'s fastest growing economies were in the heart of Arab world and Africa.
He said that cooperation between the two countries would lead to prosperity and development of both African and Arab worlds.
Ambassador Suwaid said the Arab League works in harmony with the UN and regional organisations such as the African Union, European Union and others in order to maintain peace and security worldwide.
Meanwhile, Home Affairs minister Lawrence Masha has hailed the league on great achievements made since its establishment in 1945.
Masha said the Arab world has also been one of Tanzania\'s great partners in conducting trade and supporting development activities in the country.
``The relationship between the Arab world and Tanzania is of great importance so it has to be maintained, despite the country`s geographical locations,`` said the minister.
The league was formed in 1945 to boost cooperation among member countries considering equality, mutual respect, independence, common security and peaceful resolution of conflicts.
