Two die, five arrested over the weekend in Dar

Two people have died in separate incidents over the weekend in Dar es Salaam, police said yesterday.
In the first incident on Saturday, Kinondoni Regional Police Commander Jamal Rwambow said that a man identified as Erasmus Akida (33) was found dead inside his room at Kigogo area in the city.
According to the RPC, the deceased`s cousin, John Apolinary (27), described Akida`s health to have been fine on April 4, this year (the day before he died), only to be found dead inside his room the following day.
Akida`s body is preserved at Mwananyamala Municipal Hospital.
In the second incident, on Saturday, Temeke Regional Police Commander, Rukia Simbakalila reported an accident involving a car with registration number T664 ARL which happened along Kilwa Road at Mbagala Rangi Tatu area around midnight.
In the incident, a motorist aged between 45 and 50, whose identity could not be established immediately, died when he was being rushed to Temeke Municipal Hospital.
Simbakalila said the fateful car knocked a breakdown vehicle with registration number T398 ARV, belonging to a person identified by only one name as Abubakar.
The deceased's body is preserved at Temeke Municipal Hospital, and police were still investigating the incident.
Meanwhile, police in Dar es Salaam have arrested five people suspected of dealing with narcotic drugs.
They were nabbed on Saturday at Kinondoni Mkwajuni area in Kinondoni Municipality within the city.
Kinondoni RPC, Jamal Rwambow named the suspects as Ahmed (30), Fred Sanda (30), Athumani Kasim (25), Mohamed Hasani (28) and Nurudin Athumani (29). They will all appear in court tomorrow.
