Local entrepreneurs have been challenged to wisely grab business opportunities during the eighth Leon Sullivan Summit, to be held in Arusha in June this year.
The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Marketing, Stargomena Tax Bamwenda, gave the challenge in Dar es Salaam yesterday when opening a preparatory seminar towards the Leon Sullivan Summit.
The seminar was attended by business people from Morogoro, Coast and Dar es Salaam regions.
She said the government was committed to making the gathering a `summit of the lifetime` as it expected them to establish business contacts, search for market and attract investors.
``The rewards of this global business meeting depend on how you will grab and utilize the available opportunities. It won`t make any sense if we don`t benefit because the government has invested a lot in the summit``, said Bamwenda.
Bamwenda said the government was set to improving the country`s infrastructure so as to create conducive business environment.
She challenged them to improve the quality of products so as to market their goods outside the country.
Bamwenda said the Leon Sullivan Summit would be attended by more than 30 African heads of state.
The Summit will bring together people of African descent from Africa, Europe and America.
The Chairman of the Sullivan Secretariat, Shamimu Nyanduga, said the meeting was likely to establish a business bridge between Africa and America.
She also thanked the government for its efforts in making sure that the eighth Leon Sullivan Summit was conducted in Tanzania simply because President Jakaya Kikwete wanted his people to benefit from it.
